I have a number of different electric bike kits I have assembled. I have the Ecospeed 36 volt system on my EZ-1 AX recumbent and I use it for utility work. I have hauled bikes, my dog and most recently 180 lbs of concrete mix on a bike to work trailer. We have very steep hills and the Ecospeed allows the hills to disappear. People always know its me, I'm the one smiling on the way up hills. The Ecospeed will take me (200lbs) up a 15% grade without pedaling. It has a bit of a whine to it, though in traffic you can't hear it. It is much more efficient than anything else I have tried so if you need to haul heavy loads up steep hills, spend the money, after all it does save you money in time.
